I've been busy concentrating on something other than gigging at the moment (you'll soon know what it is) but I certainly missed seeing all your beautiful faces. Thus, I could not resist the opportunity to play at Ric's next Saturday the 21st of May. I may be back again soon, but for the moment this might be the only gig in the next month or so, but after that I'll be back in full swing. So, I hope to see you at Ric's next Saturday.
Cheers,
Jerb..
Firstly, a special thank you to the gang who came along to 'Get Funked' on the 1st of April. What a screamer of a night. It was a great show by all performers on the night, and well done on Planet Radio's part. As I've mentioned before, I'm taking a bit of a break for a month or two. But don't fret, I'll be back soon. Until then, adios.

Thanks to those who came along to The Troubadour on Tuesday night. We had a few technical troubles, but 'the show must went on'.
I've got one gig left before I embark upon an artistic break (see GIGS page). I'll be back in late May or early June with a bit of a surprise for you all. Until then, I'd like to wish you all the best in your own endeavours, and I hope to see you at 'Get Funked'. It's going to be a ripper!

Hmmm, how does one graciously accept defeat? I've never been particularly good at it, but I'll give it my best. I'm going to be really cheesy and quote Confucius here: 'Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.'
Last night at Gilhooley's Chermside I was unfortunately ousted by the evident talent of the other competitors. I certainly believe everyone deserved to make it through to the finals next week; but that's not really how it works, is it? Congratulations to those who did make it, I wish them all the best in their future music careers.
Right now I'm picking up the shattered pieces of my crumbled ego and working out how I can summon the strength to survive another day. No, but seriously, I'd like to thank everyone who came along to support me, and thanks to the Australian Academy of Music, Hungry Hill Studios, and the Pushworth Group, for providing another opportunity for the singer/songwriters of Brisbane.
Until next time, stay well, and I hope to see you all at The Troubadour on the 8th of March.

Thanks to every body who came along to The Alley. What a fantastic night of great music.
Dom & Kasper opened up (despite being utterly knackered) and put on a great show, with Marcus Bancroft jumping up a few times to jam on the bass guitar. If you haven't caught Dom & Kasper yet, you're missing out on an excellent songwriter, Dom, who impresses me more every time I see him play. Kasper plays percussion and switches between his drum kit and a conga, adding a rhythmic vibe to Dom's impressive tunes. These guys are supporting Mick Hart on a tour soon, so I'm not the only one who thinks they're worthwhile seeing.
Next up was Marcus Bancroft. The man is bordering on genius. Noone dared get up and have a crack at keeping up with him, even though he put on a more laid-back show than usual. He selected some of his mellower tunes on the night and succeeded in lulling Dom & Kasper into a much-needed sleep. His blues/surf/soul radiated through the room and warmed everyone up for my set. A special thanks to Marcus for playing one of my favourites: 'Seek' off his first EP of the same name, despite the fact that he hasn't played it in a while.
And then, on came I. I was 'in the mood' on the night, and really enjoyed having Johnno Coutts get up to play some percussion for some of the set, and Marcus jammed out some fat bass lines and a bit of impro' slide guitar. I introduced a couple of new songs on the night which I played on piano, and I think all enjoyed these new additions to my set. Thanks to Olivia for getting up and accompanying me in the duet 'Requiem in E minor'. What a beautiful voice!
Well, thanks again to everyone who could take time out of their busy lives to come along and support me, and my fellow original songwriters. Hope to see you all at the next gig.
Jerb..
Well, thanks again to Py Hy for having us back for a second time. We didn't pack the place like last time, but we still had enough people to have a good time.
Francis Kneebone started out with his beautiful songs accompanied on and off by djembe, congas, and violin. The man has talent, and I look forward to seeing him play again.
Marcus Bancroft then ripped in with his brilliant blend of roots/surf/blues, sliding away on his little 3/4 size guitar. Testing out some new tunes, he invited his sister (visiting from WA) to get up and help him out. I could see why he did when she opened up that mouth and set her fantastic voice free.
Then, of course, Johnno and I hopped up and played a set of tunes, finishing off with a duet, thanks to Olivia Fisher.
Keep in touch.
